Pacific Islands Forum Women Leaders Meeting (PIFWLM)

To ensure an enduring focus on the critical role gender plays in the Pacific, in February 2021 Pacific Islands Forum Leaders endorsed an annual standing Pacific Islands Forum Women Leaders Meeting (PIFWLM),  This is held ahead of the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.

The role of the PIFWLM is to discuss, take direct action on, and advise and support Leaders on:

- Integrating gender equality and social inclusion perspectives into challenges facing the Pacific, including climate change. 
- Regional policy and development issues, including recommendations to Forum Leaders on how to strengthen outcomes for women and girls across Forum priorities.
- Strengthening regional norms and standards and meeting associated international obligations on gender equality and social inclusion issues.
- Gender equality and social inclusion issues that affect Forum priorities or impede regional approaches.
