Staff of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat have pledged to be role models for promoting gender equality, as the world celebrates International Women's Day today.

In supporting the global campaign to make a 'Pledge for Parity', members of the Forum Secretariat staff have undertaken to encourage and support greater opportunity for women and girls within their communities.

The pledges include advocating for greater participation of women with the Secretariat, recognising the full capability of every woman and girl in their life, supporting gender balanced leadership, backing diverse teams within the workplace, and promoting flexible work environments that enable participation for all.

A statement from PIFS said the pledges made by staff reflect the principles of the Secretariat?s gender policy and contribute to the ongoing discussion within the organisation about creating more opportunities for women.
